LaFonda Fay Foster and Tina Powell, Senseless Slayings

In season 5, episode 17, one Tina Powell and LaFondaFay Foster killed Carlos Kearns, 73, a semi disabled Air Force veteran; his wife, Virginia Kearns; Trudy Harrell, 59, a caregiver of Carlos Kearns; Jimmy Roger Keene, 47, a neighbor of the Kearnses; and Theodore Sweet, 52, a friend of Keene who visited often, on the night of April 23-24, 1986. The victims were shot, stabbed and run over with a car. Some were burned when the car was set on fire. by Tina Powell and LaFonda in Kentucky.

The show is titled Senseless Slayings and Discovery ID describes it as, “Women who pushed boundaries and shattered lives.”

The pair had been using cocaine and drinking for about a week prior to the murders. Both had a long history of committing crimes prior to meeting. There was no clear motive for this crime spree. LaFonda has assaulted prison staff three times since being incarcerated. Tina Powell has had zero infractions since being incarcerated. These facts should be considered if you are going to write these women as one has been reformed, or at least appears so, and the other not so much.

Tina Powell was convicted of 5 counts of murder and sentenced to . She has a chance at parole in 2021. LaFonda Fay Foster was sentenced to death which was commuted to life in 1991.

In season 7, episode 11, the murder of She killed her neighbor's child, seven year old, Javier Angel by Julia Diaz is shown. The murder was a part of an extortion plot.
