Where did you find the picture of Patricia? I was trying to look for one for ages
ReplyDeleteThat is not patricia Silberstein. Who are you?
DeleteIm a fan of Deadly Women
DeleteLots of searching and reading :D Sometimes, especially in old cases, it takes forever.
ReplyDeleteThat is not a picture of patricia Silberstein and that is not her actual graveston . Her urn is sitting on my mantle and she never had a gravestone.
DeleteNot
DeleteIt is. Right next to her parents, and her oldest brother, as well as several other family members, if you must know.
DeleteAny idea on what killed her? 45 seems pretty young
ReplyDeleteShe died of multiple sclerosis in 95. She was released in 83
DeleteElla tuvo una hija, que murió en 1995. Me gustarÃa saber más.
ReplyDeleteI am her daughter. Patricia died in 1995.
DeleteThis is my mother You are talking a bbn put and that is incorrect. She was released in april of 83 and died in 1995. I was born 3 months after she was released.
ReplyDeleteSorry auto correct messed that up but your information is quite incorrect. She only served 7 years of her sentence. It was self defense.
DeleteSo your mother got pregnant while in prison?
DeleteYes. While on work release she met my father.
DeleteEverything about this story is incorrect. I can give you the actual story but you seem to want to dramatize it. She also didn't have a head stone. All of the dates are wrong except the maximum sentence. You are horrible people trying to capitalize off of something that you don't have the facts to.
ReplyDeleteMay I hear your mothers story please? Did you watch Deadly Women's take on your mother's story.
DeleteIm just a fan who watched the D.W episode and curious for the truth. In the show they portrayed Patricia as a young divorcee who had a relationship with a guy from work who turned out to be abusive and an alcoholic. She left him but he still tried to get back with her. He begged her to meet up with him where he was drunk and attacked her for rejecting him. She ran out onto the incinerators property where he followed her. She then beat him to death with a nightstick and put his body in the incinerator which was out of order. The show claimed she was convicted of manslaughter and got a sentence of what was her age at the time of the murder. They said it got reduced to 15 years and that she served it, dying 3 years after her release.
DeleteHow erroneous was the portayal and facts?
She was never married. He was her ex boyfriend. She did get a call from him so that he could bring her some of her personal items and retrieve some of his own. He was exceptionally abusive and a severe alcoholic. They agreed to meet up on public ground but he worked late, so most places were closed. She did run away from him to the nearest property, that of the incinerator. She ran because he was first forcing himself on her and trying to remove her clothing, then when she refused him he started pushing her and hit her in the face, all in public. She ran. He followed. She picked up the first thing she found, near the open, unmanned security office at the gate on the incinerator facility, which was a mag flashlight, and threatened that if he came any closer she'd fight back. He laughed and lunged for her throat. She fought back. My mother was 5'10" tall and athletic, not overweight by any means, but definitely not a string bean. She grew up with an older sister and two brothers, who were always active. She knew how to fight, she grew up in NY, after all. However, she never planned on him hurting her any more, or having to defend herself. She fought for her life as he tried to strangle her. She beat him in the ribs and back with the flashlight while he held her throat with both hands. The fight went on like that for quite some time, she said it felt like forever. Eventually she knocked him unconscious. She freaked out and didn't know what to do, she just wanted to get away from him. He was not dead when she left him in the incinerator. I know this because reports showed that he crawled most of the way back out before he died. She told us that she left him there because she didn't know what to do, so she hid him hoping he would come to when she was far away, and he'd leave her alone. Leave her alone, he did. She was sentenced to the her age to the day of the incident. She fought the allegations of premeditated murder citing that it was self defense. She was sentenced 7/20/1977. She served 7 years and was released in April 1983. She was released for good behavior. She became a trustee while imprisoned, even gaining work release privileges. She got her degree in prison, she was a computer programmer. In 1989, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. To date, she had one of the worse record cases in history. She passed away in May 1995, as a quadriplegic on a respirator from complications from her multiple sclerosis. She had twins that survived her. I am one of them. She was a wonderful mother. She was always very open and honest, very motivational, she loved to laugh and listen to music. I am certain that show didn't show anything about who she really was. She was certainly not some diabolical murderer who plotted to murder her ex.
DeleteThank you for sharing the truth. Patricia sounded like a lovely and kind person. May she rest in peace. The programme's reenactment version claimed she just "lured" him down the property and beat him to near death with a policestick. The actress they used also was overweight.
DeleteAnother clearly erroneous fact they said was that she worked next door of the incinerator where the fight happened and that Patricia died of natural causes. Its quite a shame a big show can give such blatant lies on a case.
DeleteAre you really believing her that’s not her relative just someone with a made up life
ReplyDeleteWrong. I am her daughter. It would be kind of a screwed up made up life if it were. I just love when people dont check facts and instead believe things they see on tv.
DeleteHello I'm glad you filled us in what your mother was really like to e it sounds like it was self defense and Tony deserved everything he got imI an avid fan of deadly women
DeleteHello I'm an avid fan of deadly women im glad you filled us in the truth about your mother I was wondering how she died the narrator said she died of natural causes now I know it sounds like it was self defense and tony deserved everything he got
ReplyDeleteIt was absolutely self defense, bit the laws pertaining to that weren't so great then, they did go through several different options while trying her since nothing was premeditated and there was never any intent to kill him at any time. Simply to make him stop.
DeleteI remember researching this story and apparently the newspapers said her ex boyfriend was convicted in Tony's death.
DeleteI remember researching this story and apparently the newspapers said her ex boyfriend was convicted in Tony's death.
DeleteShe didnt have any ex boyfriends she dated Tony from the time she was 16. Her brother was also accused and held, but he was found innocent and released. Also, to clarify another thing I have seen people say. She had nothing to do with the son of sam or the zodiac killer, or any other criminals from the time period.
DeleteWow!that is fascinating that you are her daughter.I'm so sorry that you lost her at such a young age.I know how that is.it seems she raised a strong minded and intelligent person.
DeleteThank you for correcting the facts.all to often these stories are told strictly for entertainment purposes with no concern on accuracy or truth as long as they get the ratings.
Much appreciated. We contacted nat geo to have them correct the recollection and they stated that there is no copyright on life and hers is over, so their depiction shouldn't matter. We were very unhappy about that.
DeleteIf I may interject for a moment, the facts of the case are a matter of public record. They can be found here simply by typing "Patricia Silberstein" or "Anthony Wojcik" in the search box: https://fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html
ReplyDeletePatricia didn't act alone. She was assisted by Peter Perez, who--like Patricia--was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter. I can't say whether or not Patricia was involved with the Son of Sam cult, but Peter definitely was. The cult met at Untermyer Park (among other locations) in Yonkers.
Peter Perez had nothing to do with my mother or her case. My mother had nothing to do with the Son of Sam cult. Just because things happen near one another, does not mean that they are related.
DeletePeter Perez was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter in the death of Anthony Wojcik. You may not like it, and I don't intend to cause you any pain by pointing it out, but it's a verifiable fact. Again, anyone who's interested can go and check the newspaper records.
DeleteHe did not help her. They never knew one another. She was not a part of the zodiac killers cult. A lot of things that have been marked down in history are incorrect. This is one of them.
DeleteSo sorry you have to deal with this.
DeleteHope to see more positive days
DeleteLexi, I think you need to read the newspapers because Peter Perez was convicted with your mother, they may have had separate trials, but the same crime....If I was her daughter I would get the court records and read the transcripts from what happened and what was said in court...Peter Perez escaped and he was one of the 22 Disciples of Hell which were all apart of the Sons of Sam rampage. Now she may not of been a part of that but he was.
ReplyDeleteHi Gwen. You are absolutely correct, he was. She was not. She was not convicted in that. I have read all of the transcripts for all cases she was a part of. I have also spoken to a lot of different people who were in her life at that time. She was not a part of that, thank you though.
DeleteIve been bing watching Deadly women and i must say they didnt really portray her bad but said she beat him to death after he hit her and that he was very abusive. They made it seem like she served 15 years then died 3 years later . I felt bad for her cause my thoughts was he deserved it .
DeleteThank you. She truly did what she did out of self preservation. He was very abusive and she was sick of it. She was only in prison until April 1983, she passed away in May 1995. You can find her obituary in Sarasota Florida newspapers from that year. They say she was survived by her parents, brother, sister, neices and nephews, and her 2 children, and I am one of those children. I am one of those children. She was not a bad person, she didn't let what happened make her bitter or angry. She was a great mother and friend.
DeleteThe episode is called "DIY burial" if you ever want to see it . I have researched other cases that aired on the show and find some things get left out i appreciate you even chatting about it . My only question is once released was she on probation for a long time ? That may be where the show is getting she served 15 after appeal of the 22 years and some months and days of original sentence
DeleteWe were born in July 83, and we were able to move out of state when we were 6. She was on probation until we were able to move.
