Larissa Schuster

Larissa Schuster chose to take her case to trial, probably convinced no one would believe that she actually did it. The jury felt otherwise. She was convicted of first degree murder with special circumstances and was sentenced to life without parole. Her appeal includes: Schuster and Timothy separated acrimoniously in 2002.   For a while, they maintained separate living quarters in the family residence.   Schuster complained about this arrangement.   From the time of the separation on, Schuster also acted as if the house and business were hers, and she did not want Timothy to have custody of T., or a relationship with him.   She often said that she would like to see Timothy dead. Around July 4, 2002, Timothy moved out of the house and into a condominium.   Schuster was enraged that he left and took items from the house while she was on a trip.   At one point, Schuster told a neighbor that she sometimes thought she should just kill Timothy and be done with it.   She tw

Kristin Rossum

Kristin Rossum grew up as "that girl" -- the one all the boys wanted to date and the girls wanted to be. That was not enough to satisfy her appetite. She stole fentanyl from work and overdosed her husband as a means of divorce. She was sentenced to life without parole, which means she will die in prison. One of her appeals includes: State prisoner Kristin Rossum appeals the district court's denial of her petition for a writ of habeas corpus. We reverse and remand for the district court to hold an evidentiary hearing on Rossum's claim that she was deprived of her Sixth Amendment right to the effective assistance of counsel. Rossum was convicted of murdering her husband, Gregory de Villers. The prosecution's theory of the case was that Rossum po

Melissa Huckaby

Melissa Huckaby pleaded guilty to the first degree murder and kidnapping of Sandra Cantu. During her sentencing, she said,  "I still cannot understand why I did what I did. This is a question I will struggle with for the rest of my life." Theresa Knor is rather infamous for murdering two of her six children in a brutal fashion. The rest were thoroughly terrorized, and some of them were also convicted of the murders.
