At the end of the day, if you do not learn that who you associate with becomes part of who you are from this, you never will. There was no evidence of abuse and Billy had quit drinking alcohol years before he was killed. Overall he seemed to be a caring parent who at worst, battled some personal demons from time to time. His death is unfortunate for those who loved him.
