Vanessa Cameron

Vanessa Cameron was convicted of murder and sentenced her to 70 years in prison for the murder of her child's father, Samuel Johnson. It was a contract killing she committed due to jealousy over his new girlfriend and the fact she was a beneficiary of a 750k life insurance policy. She was granted a new trial due to a violation that occurred during jury selection. This was a very technical violation that would have little to no outcome on her trial. Nevertheless, she is free to exercise her constitutional rights.
This in essence made her child an orphan. She was videotaped confessing that she was aware he was going to be killed and what her motivation was.

Also convicted were three others who plead guilty and were sentenced to twenty five years. This was her common in law husband, his cousin, and her sister. All participated and/or had knowledge of the murder they did not act upon.

She was found guilty again at trial and now instead of serving seventy years, she has been sentenced to life in prison. A sentence of life in Texas means one must serve at least 40 years to be eligible for parole. Life without means life. Regardless, due to her age, it is likely to be a natural life sentence.

Her appeal includes
