In season 3, episode 10, one sees the
murder of by Andrea Yates in Texas. The show is titled Mothers who
Kill and Discovery ID describes it as, “Shocking stories of mothers
murdering their own flesh and blood.”
Andrea Yates was convicted at her first trial and
sentenced to prison. She was tried again and found to be not guilty by reason on insanity. She was remanded to a mental institution where she remains. Her first trial was a miscarriage of justice. She never denied killing her children and was honest about what had happened. Thankfully, she was able to get the help she actually needed. Her husband divorced her and remarried despite his religious convictions. One can not help but feel he failed her in so many ways - continuing to have children despite being repeatedly told this was not what was best for their children or Andrea.
